The rollout of Contactless technology involves the competitive launch of different products - Visa payWave and MasterCard® PayPass™ - by a number of UK card issuers and acquirers.

The Contactless rollout is not being centrally managed in the same way as chip and PIN, therefore, there is no central programme or press office for the rollout of Contactless cards in the UK.

In order to achieve rollout as effectively as possible the banks involved do work together on a number of non-competitive issues through their involvement with the card schemes, and through The UK Cards Association.

The media section of this site is therefore simply a collection of information sourced from the various participants.
